“May responded to our brief for a designer in such an imaginative way – what she proposed not only met with what we had imagined/hoped would be possible, but took that even further. May envisioned the journey that you take through the space – starting with a reimagining of Mary Shelley’s bed, stepping through into the moonlit woodland so familiar to most gothic literature, but particularly Coleridge’s unfinished Gothic ballad ‘Christabel’ and then on into the frozen seascape of Coleridge’s ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner’. May has brought such imagination and skill to this exhibition and has been at the heart of this process. What you experience in that space would not have been possible without her.”
