hello stranger East of England illuminated the process behind Zoe Hurwitz’s design for Dario Fo’s ‘Can’t Pay, Won’t Pay’, programmed for March 2023 on the main stage at The Mercury Theatre Colchester, as part of a UK Festival of Performance Design. The East of England hello stranger team designed interactive stations around the public foyer and bar areas of the theatre. The stations invited the public to engage with various stages of the design process (including script reading, research, sketching, 3D renderings and texture sampling). The exhibition offered audiences and members of the public a chance to see behind the scenes of the design process, for budding theatre designers, creatives and general public interested in the work of performance designers.
The work created across 13 regions of the UK was brought together at the Prague Quadrennial 2023 in the UK entry to the Exhibition of Countries and Regions.
